Things I can do.

I can do lots of things now that I am one!
I can...
drink from a straw
lick the floor
eat Polly's food
spit in the drain in the tub
drink from a straw
fall asleep without a pacifier
say mama, dada, may-mee, good girl, dog, shit, tick tock, and poop
wave bye bye
talk on the phone
get my hands dirty while mom changes my diaper (I think she really likes this one)
play - I like to be chased
walk with my "Mater" truck
sit in my new big boy car seat
laugh and giggle
say "shhh" - complete with finger to the mouth

new cups!

Hi! This is Reece! Mom said that since I'm 1 now, I can post on my blog. She bought me some new cups the other day. I really like them. They have nice soft straws that I'm really good at drinking from! Now, I can drink whenever I want!I still only have 2 teeth. But, if you look REAL close, you can see that there is a new one ready to pop through any day! I've been waking mom and dad up in the middle of the night just in case it comes through - that way they won't miss it's arrival!

Bye for now!

So long binkie!

I'm so done with the pacifier. When we try putting Reece down awake, he gets mad and throws it out of his crib. So tonight, I decided we're done with it! He cried (well, screamed really) in his bed for about 45 minutes (I went in to check on him and calm him down every 10 minutes or so), and then I finally gave in and rocked him to sleep. While in my arms, he was clutching two of his "good girls" and moving his mouth like the binkie was in it (wish I had that on video). He did finally fall asleep and he fussed again for a few minutes, but I patted his back until he was asleep.

Hopefully things get better each day. I'm a little worried about naps tomorrow, but I think we can do it!
Eventually, we'll get to the point where we can put him in his crib with no binkie and he'll just fall asleep!

12 month checkup!

I think Reece remembered his last Dr. visit when we went in today. I had to change him right away because we had a little explosion issue in the car. The moment I walked into the little bathroom and put him on the changing table, he started screaming.
Then, he would not let me put him on the exam table in the office. I think he remembered last month when we were there and they had to flush his ears. He was not a happy camper today.
He fell asleep the instant we got home!

Here are his stats:
20lbs. 9oz
29 inches
25th percentile!

Dr. Sue said that we shouldn't worry about his foot that turns out when he stands up, his hips are nice and straight and his foot will correct itself within a few years (at the latest). She said that most likely since it's the one he pushes himself up with, he just keeps it that way (which is what I thought).

Overall, a great visit. Now he's resting before we go get 1 year pictures taken!

playing

Here's Reece reading his new book from Rebekah, Tom, and Joey! He likes it because it's a "lift the flap" book. Here he is yelling into a cup from Great Grandma Dorothy. (I love his legs in this one)
Still playing with those cups.
He has such a sweet face.
I think he was either trying to smile...or trying to poop.

Birthday celebration #2

Yesterday, the 4th of July, we headed down to Tiffin for Don's parents 4th of July party. They had agreed to have cake and ice cream for Reece as well. We had a great day, and it was nice to get to visit with everyone.
Here is a picture of the cake that the rest of us got to eat...so cute. This is the cake that Reece got to "eat"
I love all of the kids in this one. Reece is just testing it out with a little bite...
He's been doing quite well on his cake, yet he's still quite clean.

Birthday celebration #1

On Friday, June 3, we all went out to Aunt Judy's house. I decided to just have cake and ice cream for Reece there since we were having the same on the 4th and Don's parents. I didn't really feel up to planning a whole party for him, so this is what we did.

Here is a picture of Matt (the Godfather) and Logan (the cousin) watching the festivities!
We had just sat the cake in front of Reece. He was a little unsure at first. In fact, when his hands first got all sticky, he kept trying to shake the frosting off. As you can see, he figured out that not only is having messy hands okay - this stuff tastes pretty good too.

This last picture just about sums it all up! He's a rockstar!

Clark Lake!

We had a great time at Clark Lake with my parents. Don and my dad were able to go fishing every morning! All three of the boys had fun and did lots of swimming. Reece loved going for boat rides and chasing Madison. Reece and Logan hanging out on the table! Logan was a great helper all week!
Crawling in the grass.
Playing in the mud! Reece totally loved the mud. I figured, I could constantly move him and then he would get mad - OR - just let him play in it and dip him in the lake when it's time to get cleaned up!
Grandpa swimming with Reece!
Reece loved his baby pool. He just kept crawling in and out.

Birthday Fun!

Reece had a great first birthday yesterday! I still haven't found the camera cord - and if it's not found today, we're heading to Radio shack tomorrow to get one. I have some GREAT pictures from the past two days!
He loved cake and needed a big bath after it!
He also LOVED the fireworks last night! The first few booms scared him, but after that, he was smiling and clapping at them. He was even pointing at the sky! At one point, he was holding someones phone and pointing it at the sky like it was a remote. He's so smart!

Hopefully pictures will be up soon!

my first mothers day...a few months late

Reece helped make the cake by licking the bowl of cool whip.

He also got to lick the spoon!
Here he's saying "feed me" with his crazy hand!
And......the finished product! Watch out Cake Boss!

now...

if I could just find the camera cord I could upload some pictures of our trip to Clark Lake!
Plus, the big Birthday is coming up on the 4th! We're all very excited! We'll be hanging out at Aunt Judy's on Friday, and then heading to Tiffin to Don's moms 4th of July party on Saturday. She's also planning cake and ice cream for Reece!

Reece still only has his 2 bottom teeth, and not very much hair. He's crawling very quickly now, stands up at everything and walks along the furniture, but doesn't really have any interest in walking on his own yet. I'm not worried, he'll have plenty of walking years ahead of him!

We had a doctor's visit around 11 months for an ear infection and at that time, he weighed 20 pounds (and some ounces that I forgot). His 12 month appointment is on July 7.

I'm beginning to think I'm a blog failure.

So sorry for being such a bad blogger. Here are some pictures of what Reece has been up to since April!

"Sooooo Big"

Pouting because I wouldn't let him get in the washer with the clothes.
Playing in the super cool toy box that his daddy made for him!
Sleeping with "good girl"
and zonked out in the big bean bag
